In 2019, we are excited to launch a range of exciting new opportunities for young people.

  1. ‘Connected’ Arts Competition – Filmmaking, Photography, Poetry
  2. Songwriting Masterclasses – 3 intakes of 7 masterclasses
  3. Momentum 2019 Summer Programme (open for applications in Spring)

‘Connected’ Arts Competition


CREATE Paisley are hosting an arts competition on the the theme of ‘connected’ as part of Renfrewshire’s Youth Mental Health Arts Festival 2019.

We are accepting entries in the following categories:

  • Creative Writing
  • Photography
  • Filmmaking

Submission Deadline: Tues 19 March at 5pm

Prizes: The top 3 entries of each Category will win £100 of vouchers

Submission guidelines (Please read before submitting):

  • Entry to the competition is free.
  • Entrants must be aged between 12-25
  • Entries must be on the theme of “CONNECTED” in relation to young people, mental health and wellbeing
  • Entries must be the entrant’s own original work.
  • We will accept entries written at any time as long as they have not previously been submitted to any Create Paisley Writing Competitions
  • By entering you are agreeing to be published in any media or subsequent anthologies associated with the competition as approved by CREATE PAISLEY however copyright of any work submitted remains with the author.
  • Successful entrants will be notified by Monday 25th March 2019. The top ten entries will be decided by Create’s Youth Panel ‘Young Creators’ and will be invited to the Award evening during the Festival, where their work will be showcased, and the top 3 will be announced. If you have not heard by that date then you have not been successful. Due to a high number of entries we cannot provide individual feedback.

Songwriting Masterclasses


CREATE Paisley are launching a new songwriting programme in 2019 to work alongside award winning songwriter Michael Cassidy through a series of 7 workshops which take Paisley’s poetry and songwriting heritage as their inspiration. Masterclasses will also have guest input from leading Scottish songwriters from bands like Frightened Rabbit, Fatherson, Admiral Fallow (subject to availability).  You will get an opportunity to develop new material and perform your songs at a festival.

We have 3 intakes for the programme with limited spaces for 4 young people to attend each intake. Please ensure you are able to attend all dates before applying to an intake.

  • Intake 1: (Mondays 630-830pm in March / April)
  • Intake 2: (Mondays 630-830pm in May / June)
  • Intake 3: (Mondays 630-830pm in July / August)

Live Rehearsals for final performance will take place in September / October.
